ARRIVAL – NAIROBI

Arrival of your flight at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.You will be warmly welcomed by our representative and your driver guide outside customs and immigration hall. You will be assisted with your bags and  proceed to your hotel near the airport. If time permits, you will have a tour briefing at the hotel lobby ready to start your safari proper in the morning.

  • Early breakfast at the hotel. .You will be transferred to Wilson Airport and assisted in check in for flight to Masai Mara

Eagle View Camp is set on a natural hilltop giving spectacular views over Naboisho Conservancy in Kenya’s Masai Mara region. The camp overlooks a natural waterhole which is frequented by a broad range of wildlife including giraffes, elephants and various species of antelope. There are also over seventy identified lions residing within Naboisho Conservancy. In 2013 Eagle View was named one of the top twenty-five eco-lodges in the world by National Geographic Traveller’s Magazine.

The ethos of Eagle View is to combine ecological architecture with a contemporary minimalist design to compliment the natural surroundings. The camp prides itself on its excellent cuisine and high levels of service.

Accommodation

Eagle View camp features 9 Double Viewpoint Tents. Each is built on an elevated platform and has raised canvas ceilings for a spacious feeling and a king size double or twin beds with fresh white linen and indulgent duvets. Each guest tent has a private bathroom area featuring bio-flush toilets and two showers, one inside and one open-air ‘safari shower’. All tents have a private elevated viewing deck offering exceptional views of Naboisho Conservancy.
Two of the Double Viewpoint Tents have separate annexes with two additional beds and a private bathroom area. This is the perfect choice for families travelling with teenagers or older children.

 Activities
  • Game drives from Eagle View are taken in the camp’s shared 4×4 safari vehicle on the game-filled Naboisho Conservancy – a highly acclaimed model for nature conservation. Drives are taken by day and night, giving the rare opportunity to search for nocturnal wildlife. Guests staying 3 nights or more can also take game-drives within the Masai Mara National Reserve (complimentary one-day entrance to the Reserve included).
  • Guided walks with expert guides offer guests the chance to explore the area on foot, getting closer to the flora and fauna.
  • The camp also offers visits to its community projects where guests can learn more about the local villages and their ways of life.

  • The balloon safari is a shared activity with other participants.
  • Participants must be of reasonable fitness, at least 7 years of age and 1.4 metres in height
  • Balloon safaris are not appropriate for women who are pregnant. Please note Persons exceeding 120 KGS in weight need to prebook 2 places and will be charged for 2 persons and same applies for the internal flights.

Our custom 4X4 safari vehicles will pick you from your camp or lodge between 0400-0530AM and drive you to the launch site, to arrive by 0600AM. Depending on the weather conditions, you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while you watch the balloons being prepared for take-off. Your pilot will give a safety briefing as well as explain what you can expect during the flight. There are basic toilet facilities available at the launch site. NB: one launch site has toilet facilities.

The balloon crew will assist as you clamber into your balloon basket for take-off just before sunrise, at about 6:30AM. As you rise the Maasai Mara plains opens up before your eyes to feast on the golden sunrise, enchanting sceneries, plains-game below as the winds gently blows the basket deeper into the reserve. The pilot is at hand pointing out at the wildlife below with plenty of photographic opportunities unfolding. Soar silently with 360 degrees of spectacular savannah lasting approximately one hour, depending on wind conditions.

Upon landing between 7:15 and 7:30 AM, observe the complete deflation of the balloon envelope as our vehicles wait for you for a short drive to your morning hearty meal.
Our breakfast is set up on the picturesque savannah plains of the Mara, typically under the shade of a single balanite tree. Sit down to a full bush breakfast in the Kenyan style, complete with eggs-to-order, sausages, fresh juices, fruits, cereals and, of course, sparkling wine.

After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely game drive back to your camp or lodge to arrive by around 10:30AM already reliving the memories of the morning’s flight.

MASAI MARA – Mara Naboisho Conservancy

Spend two days exploring on activites offered at the camp

For most travelers, a safari is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and if you’re looking for a different wildlife experience, then Mara Naboisho Conservancy bordering the Maasai Mara National Reserve is the best place to experience exclusive safari adventures in a truly authentic way.

Mara Naboisho Conservancy consists of 50,000 acres of private pristine wildlife territory and spectacular scenery. Safaris in Naboisho Conservancy are more exclusive due to the limited number of vehicles per game drive, it is possible to experience the African wilderness without the crowds.
In addition to your two daily game drives, we offer spotlight night drives and guided walking safaris with expert Maasai guides– activities only permitted in private conservancies.

Typical day on Safari

Wake up at dawn to the natural sounds of Mara’s birdlife. After your coffee/tea, you will meet your guide ready to take you for your morning game drive. Your guide will help you search for the prolific wildlife of Mara, sharing their knowledge of the flora and fauna with you as you explore. Return to camp later in the morning for a hearty breakfast. The rest of the morning is at leisure. We have a variety of safari books and puzzles to keep you entertained. In the afternoon plan to visit our community project – Koiyaki Guiding School a capacity building institution that offers a training course for students aspiring to be professional guides. Thereafter, join your guide for an afternoon game drive. Mara Naboisho Conservancy brims of abundant wildlife which will keep you entertained all through. End your day with a Basecamp sundowner, or two before embarking on a night game drive for a chance to spot the nocturnal wildlife.

Price includes accommodation, all meals, mineral water, airstrip transfers, shared game drive safaris, night game drives and guided walking safaris and Naboisho Conservancy fees. Due to the camp’s wild and rustic nature, the recommended age for children staying at Eagle View Camp is 7 years. The recommended age for walking safaris is 12 years.

MASAI MARA – DIANA BEACH

Today is your last day on safari. Enjoy your final morning activities either a morning game drive or a guided walking safari followed by a leisurely breakfast. Now that your safari has come to an end, ensure you pack up all your belongings as you get ready to say your goodbyes to the African Bush. After lunch, your guide will transfer you to the airstrip in time for your scheduled flight to Nairobi to catch your onward flight onto Diana Beach.

The spacious accommodations are individually designed and combine mahagony furniture with Swhaili design. Each room is fitted with a minibar and air conditioning. Featuring a shower, private bathrooms also come with a hairdryer and towels. Some of the rooms have a spa bath.

A tropical breakfast is served at the main restaurant, which is also open for lunch and dinner. There is a sushi bar and a pizzeria. Cocktails, refreshments and snacks can be enjoyed at the pool bar.
Other facilities at The Sands include a watersport centre, a fitness centre, a 24-hour front desk, a gift shop and a tour desk.
An array of activities can be enjoyed on site or in the surroundings, including windsurfing, kitesurfing, diving and snorkelling. An 18-hole golf course is located 2 km from the hotel.

To upgrade to superior accommodation

Located on the first floor overlooking our stunning galana stone swimming pool, the Colobus Suite ”Mbega” (app 80 sqm) offers unique views of the Nomad forest. The forest is a haven for bird life and a popular haunt of our resident Colobus monkeys, which can often be seen relaxing and playing in the trees. A private terrace boasts panoramic views of the pool and white sandy beach through swaying palm trees. The Colobus Suite is situated in the Main Building and is equipped like the Ocean View Suite.
